Ali Javan (1926-2016) was an Iranian-American physicist who co-invented the first gas laser, the helium-neon laser, in 1960 at Bell Labs. It was the world's first continuous-beam laser, enabling barcode scanners, fiber-optic internet, laser printers, and medical devices. On December 13, 1960, Javan used it to make the first-ever laser-transmitted phone call.

Dr. Samar Mubarakmand is a renowned Pakistani nuclear physicist, born in 1942, known for his research in gamma spectroscopy and building the Charged Particle Accelerator at PINSTECH. Oxford-educated, he was a pioneer of fibre-optic technology in Pakistan, founding chairman of NESCOM, and today leads mineral exploration as chairman of the Punjab Mineral Company.

Perween Rahman (1957-2013) was a Pakistani architect and social activist who led the Orangi Pilot Project, helping millions in Karachi's informal settlements build their own sanitation, schools, and housing. An outspoken critic of Karachi's land mafias, she was assassinated on 13 March 2013. Google honored her with a Doodle in 2022.

Zubeida Agha (1922-1997) is widely regarded as the mother of Pakistani modern art. After Pakistan's creation in 1947, she was the first artist to hold a modern art exhibition in the new nation. Trained in Lahore, London, and Paris, she introduced modernism and abstraction, and co-founded the country's first contemporary art gallery.
